I just learned of the passing of Jim Hanley, and I feel that I have to lend my voice to the others that have praised him.
I negotiated contracts when Jim was Deputy Labor Relations Director. While my job was to get all I could from the city, Jim was there to see that I didn’t. That being said, he always showed a sign of respect for the people I represented. Unlike some others who served in the role of Commissioner, Jim’s word was his bond and his handshake was as good as a signed contract.
