The lowdown

To the editor:

The Supreme Court’s decision on presidential immunity is appropriate and consistent with the Constitution, procedure and logic. Trump's defense was that his acts were official in his capacity as president, and that he was thereby immune from criminal prosecution. Trump also stated that he acted within his legitimate powers to ensure the election was properly conducted and that fraudulent activity ended.

Chief Justice John Roberts reaffirmed that presidents have absolute immunity for official acts explicitly stated in the Constitution. That is a big win for Trump.

End of story.
