Starbucks announced it would close up to 16 stores, most on the West Coast, by the end of July for what the company said were safety concerns from employees. The stores slated for closure include six each in Los Angeles and Seattle, two in Portland, and one each in Philadelphia and Washington, D.C.
In a leaked video posted on Twitter last week, CEO Howard Schultz said the closures are a result of concerns about mental illness, homelessness and crime, and how store bathrooms are being used.
