To the editor:
Joseph Cannisi calls it "sad" that tens of millions of Americans will vote for Donald Trump.
What is "sad" about it? This is the political process in this country. People vote for the candidate they choose. Because Mr. Cannisi does not countenance voting for Trump does not make one who votes for Trump right or wrong.
Regarding Trump's role in the January 6 insurrection. Trump should have told his followers to stand down or engage in peaceful, lawful protest. No excuses. But again, only an unhinged person would engage in these horrific acts, ruining countless lives for nothing. The decision to storm the capitol was made by those that stormed the capitol. Not Donald Trump.
This is what I find "sad," even depressing. First, there is no viable independent candidate to vote for. Second, Mr. Cannisi is deluding himself into believing all his letters about Trump will make a bit of difference. Barring a shocking turnaround New York will go to Harris. No matter how much of the popular vote Harris receives, it will all come down to the Electoral College.

No Mr. Weiner, Donald Trump led the murderous and traitorous Jan. 6 insurrection, and without his leadership it never would have happened. What's sad about voters for Trump? It's sad that anyone who is not truly ignorant would vote for a misogynistic, xenophobic, racist, sociopathic narcissist who mocks heroic military veterans on sacred grounds. Trump leads a treasonous cult, and it's sad that he has so many followers. He's the political equivalent if Jim Jones and David Koresh.
