Despite Concern Over Virus Spread, APWU Still Opposing Vaccine Mandate

The nation's largest postal workers' union opposes the imposition of a coronavirus vaccine mandate for its members although it supports vaccinations and is pressing for a return to universal indoor masking as the Delta variant surges across the nation.

"The scientific data shows us that four things substantially reduce the spread of COVID-19 and prevent one from contracting this disease: wearing a face-covering, social distancing, regular hand-washing, and getting one of the COVID-19 vaccinations," American Postal Workers Union President Mark Dimondstein and Vance Zimmerman, the union's director of industrial relations, stated in a July 26 letter to members.
