The long-awaited first classes for 900 NYPD recruits will begin Nov. 2.
For some, the six-month academy curriculum has been on hold since March, when a scheduled class was postponed because of the coronavirus. A second class, scheduled to start in July and which would have included the March trainees—altogether more than 1,100 recruits—was canceled following cuts to the police budget.
