Uneven growth citywide muddles jobs picture

Ever the city’s cheerleader, Mayor Eric Adams’ perpetual pronouncement in recent months has been to note New York’s post-pandemic revitalization, driven, he declares at nearly every one of his public appearances, by an surge in jobs and a reduction in crime. 

He repeated it during testimony before state lawmakers on Tin Cup Day last week, remarking,  “look at the city: crime is down, jobs are up, and every day we are delivering for working class New Yorkers.”
