The United Federation of Teachers has already dropped $580,000 on William C. Thompson Jr.’s mayoral campaign in the last month, with at least $1 million in total budgeted for the campaign, according to Aug. 9 filings.
The union endorsed Mr. Thompson on June 27 and quickly became one of his highest-profile supporters, and is helping bankroll his campaign through an independent political committee called United for the Future.
