The waning of Governor Cuomo's grip on state government caused by the investigations into sexual-harassment allegations against him has had a salutary effect for the tens of thousands of union members who work for the Metropolitan Transportation Authority, according to John Samuelsen, president of the Transport Workers Union of America.
In a March 17 phone interview, he pointed to his union's recent success in getting both the Assembly and State Senate to restore $160 million of MTA revenue that Mr. Cuomo sought to siphon away from the transit system as just one example of a beneficial power realignment for labor.
