The Holocaust and Iran

Posted

To the editor:

"There were not six million Jews murdered; there was one murder, six million times." – Abel Herzberg, emphasizing the individual tragedy.

In a speech on April 13 commemorating Israel’s annual Holocaust Remembrance Day, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu asserted that Israel and the United States had decisively defeated the Iranian regime in the recent conflicts that took place in June 2025 and February-March of this year.

At the Yad Vashem Holocaust Memorial Museum, Prime Minister Netanyahu addressed the regime of the ayatollahs, emphasizing their unwavering pursuit of nuclear weapons and the production of tens of thousands of lethal ballistic missiles designed to annihilate the nation of Israel.

Netanyahu asserted that the regime believed it could achieve this objective without hindrance, but this misconception has been dispelled. Iran has learned an invaluable lesson; it will never be permitted to commit a second holocaust against the Jewish people.

“Year after year, I have stood here,” Netanyahu continued. “At the Holocaust Remembrance Day ceremony, I pledged: ‘We will not permit Iran to develop nuclear weapons.’ As prime minister of Israel, I vowed: ‘There will not be a second Holocaust.’"

“This year,” he declared triumphantly, “we fulfilled that promise.”

"Neutrality helps the oppressor, never the victim. Silence encourages the tormentor, never the tormented." – Elie Wiesel, urging active opposition to injustice.

This is an excellent letter from a mystery writer who is well-informed about the reasons behind Israel and the US’s military policies in the Middle East.

Mr. Netanyahu is to be commended for emphatically -stating at the Holocaust Remembrance Day ceremony, I pledged: ‘We will not permit Iran to develop nuclear weapons.’ As prime minister of Israel, I vowed: ‘There will not be a second Holocaust.’"

Netanyahu is a monster and war criminal with no redeeming qualities. He has set back respect for Israel around the world to a level that will take decades to repair - and that will only happen if Jewish voters reject the radical right wing who are determined to eliminate Palestinians. A fair 2- state solution is an absolute requirement.

Palestinians have rejected a two-state solution four times.

1937 Peel Commission Plan - rejected

1947 UN Partition Plan - rejected

2000 Camp David Summit - historic rejection that essentially buried a two-state solution forever

2008 Olmert Plan - also rejected

Israel has made four formal agreements or offers for a two-state solution and has consistently sought peaceful coexistence with its neighbors. In contrast, the Palestinian Authority has consistently rejected all proposed solutions and has never presented its own viable offer.

Marco Rubio rejected the new Iranian proposal to reopen the Strait of Hormuz because Iran sees the strategic waterway differently from everyone else. Iran’s idea is simple: if you work with Iran, get our okay, and pay us, the straits will stay open. But if you don’t, Iran will blow you off the face of the Earth.

Rubio: Rubio argues that we cannot simply accept or even permit Iran to normalize a system where they have the authority to select who utilizes their waterways and determine the charges for safe passage.

This is the mindset the free world is grappling with in Iran.
