Following the Amazon Labor Union’s famous win at a neighboring facility early this month, a second Amazon warehouse facility in Staten Island is set to hold their union vote the week of April 25.
But workers at the warehouse known as LDJ5 say the company is ratcheting up its efforts to ensure that outcome is decidedly more favorable to Amazon. “They’re really, really fighting us,” Madeline Wesley, the union treasurer and a worker at the LDJ5 facility, said at an ALU event held adjacent to the warehouse April 8. “All those union busters that were there to bust 8,000 workers in JFK8 have walked across the street and are in our little building of 1,600 workers.”
