NYSNA Sues State DOH, Hospitals For Failing to Protect Nurses

The New York State Nurses Association April 20 filed separate lawsuits against the state Health Department and two hospitals for allegedly failing to protect workers against the coronavirus.

The union, which represents 42,000 nurses, claimed in its lawsuit against the state that the Health Department did not ensure hospitals had sufficient  personal protective equipment such as N95 respirators, and that despite the April 12 order from the Governor’s coronavirus taskforce requiring medical facilities to provide each health-care worker with one N95 mask per day, the state hasn’t enforced that rule.
