Mediation on deck for ferry workers

The contract entanglement between the city and the crews that run the Staten Island Ferry could be closer to resolution after the mariners’ union accepted Mayor Eric Adams’ offer to have a mediator present at the next negotiating session.

The impasse has stranded 125 captains, co-captains, engineers and mates without a new contract for nearly 12 years, with the two sides still apparently far apart concerning what constitutes a fair agreement.
