Mayor de Blasio may want to put behind him the report that Correction Commissioner Joseph Ponte spent a quarter of last year out of town with a city-owned vehicle, but current and retired correction officers are not making that easy.
A Department of Investigation report issued April 28 found that Mr. Ponte and 22 subordinates had used take-home vehicles assigned to them by the Department of Correction for personal trips. Mr. Ponte spent a total of three months out of town, mostly in his home state of Maine, with his vehicle, the report said.
