Starting next month, city agencies will no longer ask prospective hires about their salary or compensation history at their previous places of employment, thanks to an executive order signed by Mayor de Blasio Nov. 4.
Boosters of the move say that it will help to close the well-documented race and gender wage gaps that advocates say only get re-enforced when those disparities become the basis for future compensation.
