A group of rank-and-file lifeguards has filed charges against the longtime president of the lifeguard supervisors union and others in the workers’ latest bid to curb the power of their union leaders.
Six lifeguards last month brought 23 charges against Peter Stein and four of his allies to the judicial board of the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees, the parent union of District Council 37 Local 508, which Stein has headed for decades.
