Kudos to the Knicks

To the editor:

Thank you, New York Knicks and captain Jalen Brunson for refusing to go to the White House at the invitation of Donald Trump. They must know that Trump is the worst kind of hypocritical racist, one who praises a few Black people who support and praise him, but criticizes and attacks those who challenge him, calling them stupid with low IQs.

Trump is so stupid that he doesn’t distinguish between an IQ test and the dementia test the doctors often give him - obviously for good reason.

Does anyone think Trump has any sincere respect for courageous Black leaders of the civil rights movement including Rev. Martin Luther King Jr., John Lewis, Malcolm X, Thurgood Marshall, and Ella Baker?  I doubt Trump has true respect for Abraham Lincoln, or Lyndon Johnson, who worked with Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. and continued the proposal of John F. Kennedy to pass the Civil Rights Act of 1964.

Clearly Trump detests and regrets the Civil Rights Act.

Why should Black athletes (and all fair-minded athletic champions) accept praise and accolades from Trump when they know he is only associating with them to let their championship aura rub off on him?  The NBA champion New York Knicks made the right choice to say “no thank you” to our racist President’s invitation.
