The monthly NYPD promotion ceremony, held on Oct. 25, was unusually heavy in the higher ranks, with four Chiefs, three full Inspectors and three civilian Directors or Deputy Directors named. They were among 259 uniformed officers and 50 civilian employees who were upgraded.
Brian J. Burke, the executive officer in the Office of the Police Commissioner, was promoted to Assistant Chief. He joined the department in 1993, and has been executive officer of the Intelligence Division and the 43rd Precinct. Other assignments have included the 60th and Midtown North precincts, the Manhattan South Narcotics District, the Grand Larceny Task Force, and the Office of the Deputy Commissioner for Public Information.
