A former NYCHA superintendent has been convicted of federal bribery and extortion counts in connection with the wide-ranging bid-rigging scandal at the nation’s largest public housing authority, prosecutors said.
Following a weeklong trial — the first connected to the federal takedown of 70 current and former Housing Authority personnel in February — Joy Harris was convicted of soliciting and accepting tens of thousands of dollars from contractors in exchange for no-bid contracts at several NYCHA developments.
