The City University of New York has seen a 40 percent reduction in campus peace officers and campus security assistants, leaving campuses vulnerable.
Prior to the pandemic, CUNY staffed about 900 campus peace officers and 600 campus security assistants across its 25 campuses. But that number has dwindled to 600 peace officers and just half of the number of campus security assistants, anonymous sources who work at CUNY told the New York Post.
