We are close to having the nation take a significant backward step. We are likely in the next few days to have the Supreme Court rule, possibly by a 5-4 margin, that Roe is no longer the law of the land.
The decision would represent an amazing step back into the 20th century while we are in the second fifth of the 21st century. From a left point of view, we should absolutely hope that the Court doesn’t keep Roe but instead totally guts it of all meaning while maintaining the veneer (fiction actually) that, by leaving it up to individual states, rights under Roe still exist.
