Slightly more than a month before she will resume standing before a class of students at the State University of New York at Old Westbury for the first time since March 10 last year, Gilda Zwerman wrote, "I feel safe outdoors—I wish I could teach all my classes in person on a campus under a canopy.
"And," she added, "the place I feel safest is underwater."
