The de Blasio administration has accused the Correction Officers union of "instigating" an illegal work slowdown in the form of a sick-out by its members on Rikers Island, and has filed suit to compel the union to prod AWOL officers to return to duty.
According to the suit, filed Sept. 20 in State Supreme Court in Manhattan, the Correction Officers’ Benevolent Association and its officers have caused or encouraged “a concerted action” that has compromised safety within the island penal colony.
