EMS workers would get raises conforming to the civilian pattern and not the larger pay bumps given to those in the uniformed services, according to the city's latest contract offer, union leaders said this week.
When bargaining began earlier this summer, the leaders of both EMS unions — District Council 37 Locals 2507 and 3621 — were unified in their demand that their members be recognized as a uniform force, which could net them larger raises than their colleagues in civilian, non-uniform titles. The union leaders also insisted on pay parity with other first responders, such as FDNY firefighters.
