The next round of planned municipal budget cuts are being canceled and the hiring freeze imposed on city agencies will be relaxed, Mayor Eric Adams announced Wednesday.
Last fall, the administration announced three rounds of 5-percent across-the-board cuts as part of its “Program to Eliminate the Gap” to address budget shortfalls it mostly attributed to spending on the asylum-seeker crisis.
