At the northwest corner of Greene Street and Washington Place in Greenwich Village, along the brick and terra-cotta facade of the neo-Renaissance building there, a stainless steel band soars to the ninth floor.

The ribbon, which divides into two strands when it reaches the third floor, was installed earlier this month. It is the last component of a memorial monument to the 146 people who perished during the Triangle Shirtwaist Factory fire in 1911.
