Nine NYU Langone-Brooklyn nurses fired two years ago after a woman who could not get into the hospital’s delivery unit gave birth unattended on a hallway floor have been ordered reinstated with back pay by an arbitrator, their union said.
On Dec. 11, 2022, the woman and her husband arrived at the Sunset Park hospital shortly after 6 a.m. and had trouble finding the labor and delivery unit. Although they eventually made their way to the fifth-floor unit, no clerk who could allow the couple entry to the locked unit had been assigned to the shift.
