A most violent President

Posted

To the editor:

Our 47th President is not only the most violent president we have ever had, but the most brazen.

He is openly proud of his destructive tendencies.

He said he would be a dictator on “day one,” and he has never stopped being one down to this day.

He admits he has great affection for oppressive totalitarian leaders like Xi (“a great leader”), Putin, and Kim Jong Un.

He brazenly enriches himself and his family at every opportunity, in unlawful disrespect of the “emoluments” clause of the U.S. Constitution.

He is a proud and transparent usurper of Congress’ powers: “I can do whatever I want, I’m the President.”

He is very open about wanting to hurt people. He uses words like “exterminate,” “obliterate,” “annihilate,” “erase,” “kill,” “completely destroy,” “blast.”

Why is all this so attractive to you, MAGA?

    You opine Trump is anathema.

I opine Trump is a delight.

    Who’s right?

Kimball Shinkoskey's opinions are based on reality. Word Man seems to be trying to be as much of a gas lighter as Trump.

I’m not gaslighting anyone. I ask no questions. I’m only making a brief statement. It’s clear Shinkoskey is not a Trump man. His letters say so. I support Trump’s economic and social policies. The goal is a strong economy, and helping people “truly in need."

Helping people truly in need? Like the rich and corporations? They don't need help.

krell1349 is exactly correct. According to 2025 IRS data:

88 corporations enjoyed more than $105 billion in U.S. pretax income in 2025, yet paid zero taxes. The statutory federal income tax rate for corporate profits is 21 percent, which means these 88 corporations should have paid a collective total of $22.1 billion for the year. Instead, they RECEIVED $4.7 billion in tax rebates. This means the total federal corporate income tax breaks enjoyed by these companies comes to $26.7 billion.

Trump’s agenda is clear. Trump makes the economy hum. When the economy hums, tax revenues increase. Increased tax revenues pay for the social safety net. The social safety net helps needy people. Helping needy people is Trump’s aim. Trump’s aim is a strong safety net. A strong safety net is good. Trump is good.

GDP is how economies are measured; not the stock market. Trump's economic record is abysmal.

Trump has presided over the 3 worst years of GDP growth since the Great Recession - 2020, 2025 2026 (ytd) - and GPD growth in 2017, 2018 & 2019 were all lower than Biden's 4 years in office 2021-2024.

As for job creation, Trump's combined 1st and 2nd term record is even worse. He has LOST over a million jobs.
