Ignoring Rules Can Be Deadly

An Assistant Principal who worked at a since-closed Bronx high school where three years ago a teenage student fatally stabbed one classmate and wounded another could be fired because the school system’s Special Commissioner for Investigation found that three years earlier she brushed off an alarmed call from the assailant’s mother warning that her son was carrying a knife to school.

According to a just-released report by Special Commissioner Anastasia Coleman, the AP, Caridad Caro, did nothing further in response to the May 2014 call than to search Abel Cedeno’s backpack, which didn’t contain a knife, and speak with him.
