Reyn McGuire, a picker at Amazon's Bessemer, Ala., warehouse, started working there four months ago, long enough to be certain the only way that conditions would improve was if employees there voted to form a union.
During the package-delivery giant's busy season late last year, she found herself working 12-hour shifts five or six days a week, with a single 30-minute paid break and another one for which she wasn't compensated.
