The filing of a Federal lawsuit by the head of the New York State Court Officers Association just weeks after the launch of an inquiry into charges of racism within the union has added a new chapter to the fractious relationship between the union's president and the state’s Chief Judge.
The suit, filed July 1 in U.S. District Court in Manhattan by Dennis Quirk on behalf of himself and NYSCOA, alleges that the Office of Court Administration, including Chief Judge Janet DiFiore, failed to protect union members by neglecting to properly clean their workplaces and not providing adequate protective equipment during the pandemic.
