Elias Husamudeen remains acting president of the Correction Officers Benevolent Association, a union spokesman said June 23, a day after votes were counted in a leadership election in which some members said participation was low after the only candidate for the job was arrested two weeks earlier on bribe-receiving charges.
“I threw my ballot in the garbage,” said one veteran Correction Officer who spoke on condition that he remain anonymous. “This election was rigged.”
