To the editor:

Senator JD Vance has gone even beyond Donald Trump with his willingness to admit and defend lying and spreading false and dangerous memes. Trump has tried to convince his supporters that he believes the lies and false stories he has spread since 2015. JD Vance admits that he is willing to intentionally tell baldfaced lies that threaten and injure people in order to get the media to spread Trump’s messages.

Vance has defended his false stories about first-hand accounts from people in Springfield, Ohio, that Haitian immigrants were eating pets. According to Vance, “The American media totally ignored this stuff until Donald Trump and I started talking about cat memes." He continued: "If I have to create stories so that the American media actually pays attention to the suffering of the American people, then that's what I'm going to do.”

It couldn’t be clearer that for JD Vance, his and Trump’s ends (goals) justify the means, even when those means are false, immoral, xenophobic, misogynistic, racist and imminently dangerous to others. Trump and Vance make Machiavelli look harmless by comparison.

When truth doesn’t matter, evil is the only winner.
