Unions Block ‘Con-Con’ But Crooked Pols Risk Forfeiting Pensions

Gratifying public-employee unions that had worked tirelessly against the proposal, New York State voters Nov. 7 decisively rejected a ballot proposition calling for a constitutional convention.

They did approve, also by a large margin, a second proposition that would allow judges to reduce or take away the pensions of politicians convicted of crimes while in office.
