The Uniformed Firefighters Association has joined a coalition of unions looking to persuade President Donald Trump to use potential proceeds from the sale of two government-sponsored enterprises to construct workforce housing nationwide.
The coalition, “Housing for Us,” is led by the Building and Construction Trades Council of Greater New York. The effort, announced in April, proposes ending the federal conservatorship for Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae, two government-sponsored housing financiers.
