Three adjunct City University of New York professors who were told last summer that they would not be reappointed for the Fall 2025 semester after they participated in pro-Palestinian protests have been reinstated for the current semester, the union representing the professors announced on Monday.
The Professional Staff Congress of CUNY has demanded since last June that the “Fired Four” be reinstated to their positions. The union passed an internal resolution calling for reinstatement, held protests and wrote a letter to CUNY chancellor Matos Rodríguez framing the firings as a violation of academic freedom and free speech.
