The Sioni Group, the new owner of a 19-story Midtown office building, fired six longtime unionized cleaners without notice the same day the purchase was finalized in early September.
The terminated cleaners, represented by 32BJ of the Service Employees International Union, on Wednesday afternoon rallied with two dozen other workers and organizers from the union outside of their old workplace at 6 East 45th St. The Sioni Group, which owns at least six other office buildings in the city, bought the building for $26.8 million.
