To the editor:
To tax wealth is to catch the wind. It is a failed policy.
The crown sees the fruit of honest labor and envisions a captive pride. It ravishes the tree by stealing its yield, blind to the truth that wealth has large wings; when they are forcefully clipped, the bird yelps and flies to more fruitful realms.
The past, like the human tongue, speaks harshly. Rulers have tried to force all men to be equal, yet that defies the laws of nature.
They stripped the prosperous by decreeing unjust edicts, bringing a deep blight upon the landscape. Brilliant minds fled. Gold crossed the vast sea to welcoming shores.
The myopic state was lost in a self-inflicted maze, expending its strength to catch a ghost, causing the law to die a shameful death.
To crush the prize of initiative is to stifle the seed of growth. It is a falsehood, an impractical dream.
The magistrates think they can fill the stream by drawing the waters that sustain its vitality. When you drain the life-giving waters from the earth, you leave a parched and dry land. You leave the world in a state of misery, for a state that steals the soul to line its coffers with gold will rule a dry and barren kingdom.

Meaningless rhetoric without facts. In fact, taxing the rich worked very well in the 1950s, a decade where workers earned a lot more than today in terms of real money.

The rich have never left the countries that made them rich. Human migration has always been comprised of the poor and downtrodden. This "essay" is complete nonsense.

Check your facts! I’ll give you a hint. The modern Nordic countries repealed the wealth tax with the exception of one, Norway.
