The 2014 Dishonor Roll And the 2015 Forecast

We will remember 2014 in New York as a tale of two Democratic elected officials, one plowing ahead certain in his convictions and progressive principles, the other convinced that such matters were unneeded baggage that would only weigh him down as he triangulated his way toward a White House run.

Mayor de Blasio, like a puppy whose energy leaves him tripping over his feet, had a year’s worth of stumbles, some of which were flat-out embarrassing. Governor Cuomo, like the Darth Vader of local politics, glided through the shadows, a menacing presence who counted on an intimidating aura to deter his enemies from ganging up on him and made clear that no deal was unbreakable and no “friendship” unshakable.
