There were few dry eyes amongst the dozens of firefighters and families of firefighters gathered outside of Brooklyn Methodist Hospital the afternoon of Jan 16. to remember former FDNY fire lieutenant Michael Lynch. Lynch's family chose the hospital as a place to hold their memorial and press conference for Lynch’s death because it was inside the hospital, eight days before, where Lynch was shot and killed by NYPD officers.
“Michael Lynch did not deserve this,” Kenneth Montgomery, the Lynch family lawyer, insisted at the event. “He came to this hospital because he was in medical distress and as a result, he leaves this hospital dead.”
