After a year of deliberations and pandemic-related setbacks, the city’s Street Vendor Advisory Board released a report last week outlining the state of street vending that includes a flurry of recommendations, among them that the city create a more formalized process for vendors to receive licensing help and entrepreneurial support.
The board also endorsed the abolition of misdemeanor and criminal penalties for infractions, which in some cases can lead to $1,000 fines and even jail time.
