State Senate Labor chair wants the mayor's job

Ramos would be first Hispanic and first woman in the post

Even as he contends with investigations, legal challenges and top-level staff departures, Mayor Eric Adams’ road to re-election is looking increasingly bumpy, with the number of challengers for the June Democratic primary already greater than is typical for incumbents. 

Former City Comptroller Scott Stringer and State Senator Zellnor Myrie were the first to announce that they were exploring mayoral runs, Stringer in January, Myrie in May. Current city comptroller Brad Lander was next, throwing his hat in the ring in July. And former Governor Andrew Cuomo is said to still be considering a run for Adams’ seat.
