Mario Cilento was unanimously re-elected  to another four-year term Tuesday as president of the New York State AFL-CIO by the federation's delegates. The federation represents 2.5 million members from 3,000 unions in both the private and public sectors.

“I am honored to have the opportunity to serve as your president, and I will never take any of this for granted," Cilento said in a statement.  "I promise to show you through deeds and actions over the next four years by working as hard as I can to make the lives of our members and their families that much better.”

He added that he wants to build on the labor movement's recent successes in the state, including pension reform and raising the minimum wage.

“We have to build on those victories and accomplishments. We have to be vigilant on the issues of the present and future, like making sure when dealing with artificial intelligence, we protect our members’ rights, privacy and jobs," he said.

Cilento has been president of the New York AFL-CIO since 2011. Terrence Melvin, the federation's secretary-treasurer was  also unanimously re-elected.

On Wednesday, the federation released its list of endorsements, which include Kamala Harris for president, Kirsten Gillibrand for U.S. Senate and Andrew Garbarino for his Long Island congressional seat.
