A New York City correction officer admitted in federal court this week to fabricating injuries in a scheme that made him more than $370,000 in workers’ compensation benefits, authorities said—exposing what investigators describe as a broader concern over abuse within the system.

Todd Faustin, 43, of Coram, New York pleaded guilty before U.S. District Judge Lewis J. Liman in Manhattan to making false statements related to healthcare matters.
