While most public officials are quick to applaud police and firefighters as heroes, they are much slower at providing for their safety and compensation. The front page Nov. 28 Chief story, "Council bills push FDNY to scrap gear containing cancer-causing chemicals," raises the question of how neglectful Mayor Eric Adams must be to have not already resolved this problem?
