PSC to CUNY: Negotiate Class Size After Layoffs

The first day of classes at the City University of New York was marked by the Professional Staff Congress protesting safety and workplace issues related to coronavirus as some of its members returned to campuses.

The PSC spent the summer fighting against the layoff of 2,900 adjuncts, which was prompted by projected cuts to the public-university system due to COVID-19. The union filed a lawsuit in Manhattan Federal Court demanding that the adjuncts be reinstated using coronavirus funding received by CUNY, but a Federal Judge rejected that request.
