The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey is hiring a rail car repairman based in Harrison, New Jersey at $47.67/hour.
Under the direct supervision of the Car Equipment Division Supervisor or Foreman, the car repairman performs skilled car repair maintenance and overhaul functions including welding, burning, soft and silver soldering, pipefitting, carpentry, crane operating (including forklift and other lifting equipment) painting and all other car body repair functions associated with car repair. The work may require lifting and handling materials and equipment, climbing ladders, working at heights and using a variety of hand tolls and equipment including but not limited to pneumatic and electrically powered tools. Employees may also be required to utilize appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), including fall protections and respirators. Work is performed in accordance with FRA, OSHA, PA and PATH regulations.
