PBA appeals approval of protest settlement

Federal judge had dismissed PBA’s challenge

The city’s largest police union remains convinced that it should have a say in how the NYPD responds to protests. 

The Police Benevolent Association said Wednesday that it is appealing a federal judge’s decision that the union does not have veto power over a comprehensive agreement that underscores demonstrators’ First Amendment rights during public protests. The union has argued that the agreement’s terms would endanger cops, as well as protesters and the public.
