Several bills aimed at increasing pay equity in the city’s private sector were passed by the City Council last week, overriding vetoes by Mayor Eric Adams. The pay equity bills were two of the four bills vetoed by Adams that the Council overrode last week, part of a common pattern for a City Council that has constantly butted heads with Adams.
City Council Speaker Adrienne Adams said in a statement that the four pieces of legislation passed last week were “common sense bills to protect the lowest-income New Yorkers.”
