Need an Iran address

Posted

To the editor:

It’s time for President Trump to address the American people regarding the ongoing Iran war.

Mr. Trump’s address to the American people should logically explain the fundamental reasons behind the U.S. war with Iran.

For instance, Iran’s radical leadership has pursued hostile policies, including a clandestine nuclear program, support for terrorism that has resulted in American casualties, and backing of proxy forces like Hezbollah. These actions not only destabilize regions beyond the Middle East but also extend Iran’s influence to our own hemisphere.

Some argue that this war is a deliberate decision and poses no imminent threat. However, this overlooks the strategic reality.

A nuclear Iran would drastically alter the global balance of power, potentially emboldening aggression against U.S. interests and allies.

War is costly, especially with rising energy prices and ongoing tensions. But confronting a nuclear-armed Iran that’s rapidly gaining strength and has a large missile arsenal would be much riskier and costlier in the future.

American policy toward Iran has been inconsistent for too long, alternating between inaction and appeasement.

As Trump was boarding Air Force 1 for his trip to China, he addressed the American people on his war with Iran this way:

"I don't think about Americans' financial situation" and said he is only concerned with preventing Iran from developing nuclear weapons. When asked by a reporter how much Americans' finances are "motivating you to make a deal," Mr. Trump responded: "Not even a little bit."

    So much for America First.

Trump has been concentrating on the broader implications of Iran and the Boom. While American finances are important, the main concern is preventing Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons. Once the Iran war ends and a nuclear Iran is no longer a threat, gas prices will drop, leading to better financial conditions for Americans. In my opinion, this scenario will happen a month or two before the mid-term elections—for obvious reasons.

Looking at the bigger picture, Trump has focused his attention on preventing Iran from becoming a nuclear power. By eliminating the threat of a nuclear Iran, gas prices will plummet, and Americans’ finances will improve. Unlike you, I understand that Trump is determined to prevent Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons. Overcoming that threat, Trump is undoubtedly putting America first. If you can’t see the bigger picture, don’t worry. Trump has the big picture in his sights and will emerge from the Iran war more determined and focused on the American economy, which is projected to grow its GDP by 4 percent in the coming months.

Trump doesn't care about the American people struggling because of his idiotic Iranian war. It all could have been avoided and now he has the worst ratings of any President ever. Good work Trump, bringing down your party. keep it up!!!!

As of today, May 19, Trump's war with Iran has cost American households $42.6 billion in direct energy costs alone for gas and diesel. That's $325 per household. As this ripples through the economy, that cost will rise significantly by way of higher food and consumer goods costs.

I doubt any American, including Robert Sica, would have agreed to a monthly tax increase of $150/month to "preventing Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons" as Sica put it in his first comment. I also doubt that he would be willing to have the National Debt rise by $30 billion per month in the process.

Let's face facts - Trump made a mistake. He misjudged how the war would go and how the Iranians would respond. Trump needs to admit he was wrong, cut our losses ASAP and start working for us, the American people.

Maybe you should go back and reread previous posts by you and me. And you know what, I am not the one who personally attacks others; quite the contrary, it is the liberals, including you, who have been launching personal attacks against me. I just respond by giving you guys the business. If you want to engage in name-calling, I am more than willing to oblige any, and all, liberals in that genre…..If you want to act like adults and cool-it with the name-calling, I can do that as well. The ball is in your court!

@krell1349, here is a post taken verbatim from Word Man to myself from over one year ago:

"reenjoe It’s clear that you don’t understand the content of what you read or the basic principles of mathematics. Therefore, your attempts to manipulate election results are futile. I reiterate that Trump won the 2024 presidential election with a landslide victory. He secured 50.74 percent of the popular vote and (312) electoral votes. The candidate who receives 270 electoral votes, or in Trump’s case, (312) electoral votes, wins the presidency. Unfortunately, Democrats are too consumed by hatred to acknowledge this fact. In the future, when you express your opinions, write clearly and concisely, not gibberish.

It took me months to respond in kind to Word Man's dismissive, condescending approach to debating. And, I saw him follow the exact same pattern regarding your comments. Like most narcissistic manipulators, Word Man provokes people by twisting their words and talking down to them. When you finally respond, Word Man plays the victim and claims you started it.

If I so desired, I could repost your posts, but that is not necessary. Everyone who reads The Chief’s letters and posts knows that you are a nasty little man; and nasty does not get you very far with me. You make wisecracks to a fault, and you attack anyone who does not agree with your outlandish opinions. So if you think by crying foul, you are going to intimidate me, you are barking up the wrong tree. ( Remember, "I reply in kind!”)

The Word Man comment I re-posted is 13 MONTHS OLD! I defy you to find a comment of mine that preceded the April 10, 2025 I re-posted which caused you to "respond in kind".

You're a narcissistic projector who revels in stirring the pot. It gives you some perverse pleasure. That's not an insult, it's an observation.
